Quote: “DARO: We were told this was about keeping the galaxy safe from extremists who don’t share our values. Alderaan isn’t that. We’re peaceful. We comply. But seeing that thing’s massive dish warming up like that, it certainly doesn’t feel like protection. It feels like something else.
MODERATOR: Have you felt this way for a while?
DARO: Not until it blotted out the Sun. Before that, it was easy to trust the Empire.”
Dana sez, I’m not crying, I’m laughing. Well, maybe a little of both. (McSweeney’s, h/t Kottke)

Your time sink for the day, and you’re welcome, from the fabulous archaelogyart YouTube channel, bwo Today in Tabs. And here’s a video of the pin-covered shade on my desk lamp. I do love me some pins.

Dana sez, Ew. (h/t Today in Tabs, and thanks a lot for that, Rusty.)

Quote: “There is no such thing as them. There is only us.” (Ron Garan)

Quote for the day

There’s not really a conventional economic explanation for an industry whose long-term equilibrium is losing money: an industry that, on a purely economic level, should not exist. Warren Buffett once called the airline industry a “bottomless pit” for investor capital. “Indeed,” he wrote, “if a farsighted capitalist had been present at Kitty Hawk, he would have done his successors a huge favor by shooting Orville down.” —David Oks

Outro…Taylor channeling her inner Ronette. I love the lyrics to this song. She is such a talented writer.

Okay, both official vids. Make sure to watch this one all the way through.

  1. Read that McSweeneys piece earlier..it is hilarious in a sad kind of way. Are you a Swiftie?? I most definitely am, from the vantage point of a senior citizen. Both those videos are great, but the second one 😂

    • I don’t think I can call myself a Swiftie as I don’t have the time served, but I sure am a fan and have been since a friend forced me to sit down and watch the video of “The Last Great American Dynasty.” That girl is writing as well or better than F. Scott Fitzgerald did about the same people in “The Great Gatsby.” And you can sing to it.
