The New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe had a small but choice Fred Harvey exhibit in October 2024, which is where I saw this portrait of Fred Harvey.

Since the portrait was painted in 1890, I used it to inspire the way I wrote him in The Harvey Girl.

It is great to have a painting of him to refer too while reading the book. Thanks Dana!
My pleasure! It is a good painting.
He looks like someone who knew what he wanted and what he was doing.
I don’t know much about art, per se, but this portrait feels imbued with his personality. The more I looked at the painting the more I liked the guy.
I can’t wait to learn more about him and the wait is almost over.
