My editor had me write a letter to be included with the advanced reading copies he was sending out, and Emily (aka She Who Must Be Obeyed at Bloomsbury Marketing) rewarded the sweat of my fevered brow by gussying it up. Check it out.

Not too shabby, eh? (channelling my inner Canadian)

Hey! I am reading an ARC of The Harvey Girl and am ENCHANTED! I’m also loving the behind-the-scenes here on the blog, especially the real-life people and locations. I’m learning so much!! I’m curious: is Gowan’s mansion based on a real one somewhere in NM? Thank you so much for this book and I can’t wait for it to release!
Delighted to hear it!
No, I made Gowan’s mansion right up, based on the worst excesses I’ve seen in NYC and Chicago and California, and what I’ve researched on line. The whole time I was writing the description I kept thinking about Jeff Bezos’ yacht and how it was so big he had to pay Amsterdam to take down a bridge to get it from the shipyard to the sea. The parallels between robber barons then and now are blindingly obvious.
Loving all the lead up to your new novel. Can’t wait. Lived in Arizona and Montana. Similar experiences and atmosphere to what I’m anticipating in you new novel. Now in Oregon and not to far afield here, either. Thank you for your wonderful writing!
Thank you so much for the compliments!
