A terrific red herring saved up for the very end.
The fifth in Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series. Yeah, I know, the sheer length of the book is intimidating, but I found this one the best of the five. The two leads move their relationship and their relationships with their families forward, two creepy villains, and the cold case plot is excellent, with a terrific red herring saved up for the very end. Very few crime fiction novels featuring PIs include multiple cases and it is also fun to watch Strike, Robin, and the rest of the agency working their other cases alongside the main one. It feels much more realistic.

I LOVE these books and this was a really good one! Such interesting characters and I agree about the multiple cases. It’s interesting how they juggle everything – or try to and some stuff falls through the cracks. I’m guessing that is very much what actually happens. This series is one of the few I have that I can break them out and read them all again every couple years and really enjoy them again! The Kate series is like that too 🙂
