In spite of an average four days of rain for every one of sun and the this year incessant interest from the moose (I chased off a cow and two calves with my car a couple of days ago), #inmygarden 2026 is not a total loss.

Usually one of the first to bloom, this year the forget-me-not was way down the queue. My favorite flower, so tiny, so delicate, such pretty pastel colors, and so amazingly hardy.
The fallen petals in the image above come from the wild geranium (aka cranesbill). They get very leggy very fast and when it rains hard they swoon all over everything growing next to them, so I have to prop them up with plant stands. But they’re worth any effort.
Golden Queen trollius.
I swear I can see these by night from the house.
Even though the leaves on the rose are a little puny the blooms are as gorgeous as ever. A lovely smell to hit the nose when I open the door.
Believe me or believe me not, this Siberian iris was a volunteer. Now it’s trying to take over the septic tank garden.
One day I’m loving on the foliage and the buds of the Geranium magnificum. The next I’m coming out to curse the moose that ate half of it. Still blooming, though.
A Himalyan poppy almost past its prime. But not quite.
