In spite of the rain that fell straight through the Fourth of July weekend…

The Dwarf Siberian Iris are coming on strong.
As are the Alaska wild geranium, aka cranesbill.
And the Alabaster trollius, with the euphorbia providing a nice backdrop.
I have a thing for foliage, and the way the leaves of the lady’s mantle collects moisture from dew to rain is something I look forward to every year.
I zipped out during the half hour it didn’t rain on Sunday afternoon to do a little horsetail annihilation (I wish), and looked up to see this on the horizon. At first I thought Augustine was erupting, and then I realized, no, that was just a supervillain landing from orbit so as to begin his domination of Planet Earth. All hail our new alien overlord!
