A new map for THG2!Yes, my two elves at Mapping Solutions, aka Thom and Cherie Northon (more about them here), have been hard at work. It’s a little embarrassing that they finished their map before I finished the book. Sigh.
So, Clare gets on a horse…I had a picture in my mind of what Clare would be wearing if and when she got on a horse, but for the life of me I couldn’t find anything to match it anywhere online. I did find a bunch of other images, though, which I share here with you. Remember, this is about the same time women got on bicycles, so the split or divided skirt wasn’t just for horseback anymore. (And ICYMI, here’s how Clare does her hair.)
The tomatoes are a new strain I found at the Wagon Wheel (local nursery), Little Bird Red Robins. I have never had cherry tomatoes ripen that fast before, either in the house or in the greenhouse. They don’t make it as far as the kitchen.
I’ve always written linearly, begin at the beginning and go on through the middle until you get to the end. But this week I skipped ahead to write one of the last scenes of THG2 (The Iron Trail) because it was in my head and I was afraid it wouldn’t stay there long enough for me to get to it, and then I thought but I’ve already written the ending, and then I thought, well then, the ending is going to change, dearie, and then I had an idea for another scene in the penultimate chapter and started writing it, too. Short version: So now I’m writing backwards.
