Quote: “The map of medieval Europe was redrawn, in part, because somebody forgot to close the toilet lid.”
Dana sez, Richard I, unquestionably one of the most over-idolized figures in history. (h/t Laughing Squid)

Quote: “In a Mar. 19 letter to members of the Legislature by Alaska Attorney General Designee Stephen Cox defended the state’s decision, saying the disclosure was authorized under the National Voter Registration Act and other state elections laws to permit sharing otherwise confidential voter information.”
Dana sez, Cough*weasel*cough. (Alaska Beacon)

Quote: “This story should serve as a reminder to all of us, but especially anyone contemplating breaking the law, of one of life’s most important moral lessons: Get rid of the bear suit you moron Crime does not pay.” —Dave Barry

A solar farm built on a tidal flat in Xiangshan County, Zhejiang Province. Quote: “For the first time, clean energy has met all of the world’s growth in electricity demand. Last year global electricity demand rose by 2.8%, but, for the first time ever, every additional bit of that new demand was met by clean power. Fossil fuel generation fell by 0.2%. This last number is the important one, and needs some context.” (Fix the News)

Quote: “At library reference desks, the question someone asks out loud is almost never the question they really need answered. A student might walk up and ask for “something about the French Revolution” when the material they need is something more specific, like a study of women’s political organizing in late-eighteenth-century Paris. Answering the literal question would send them in the wrong direction, so librarians developed a short protocol for surfacing the real question first. That protocol is called the reference interview.” (Hana Lee Goldin)
Dana sez, Librarians always have your back.

Quote for the day

Pope Leo XIV, when he is not being gifted assorted sports jerseys as a running bit, has spent his papacy firmly telling everyone to quit killing each other. He condemned Russia’s actions against Ukraine, called for peace in Gaza, decried violence in Sudan, and called for peace when Iran cracked down on protestors earlier this year. Leo also said that while countries have a right to control their borders, immigrants should be treated with basic human dignity, which is pretty normal Catholic pro-life stuff. If Leo has gotten up to anything unusual so far, it’s condemning violence against women. –Liz Lopato, Today in Tabs
