Random Saturday

When we went to Yellowstone National Park, I wanted to see a buffalo. Just one would have made me happy. (Like everyone who comes to visit Alaska wants to see a bear, even just one.)

First we saw the cow and calf.

Then the herd across the Gardener River with the Gallatin Mountains in the background. A photo op if there ever was one. We found out later than a blizzard blew in the day after we left. Timing really is everything.

Where there wasn’t buffalo, we knew they’d been there.

And of course, Old Faithful on the steam.

Before the geyser blew we walked the trail around it, where there are some amazing pools of such clarity it looks like they don’t even have water in them. Well. The ones that aren’t actually boiling.

And this sign was at every single rest stop in Montana and Wyoming. You didn’t have to tell me twice.
