The Double Crown shone every bit as brightly as the Roman armor.

In December 2019 I traveled to Egypt to do research for the Eye of Isis novels, set in Alexandria in the time of Cleopatra.

Temple of Horus at Edfu. Massive, it’s like the blunt force trauma of Egyptian temples.
Miraculously, all the of the columns of the Temple of Horus survived.

Snail? But if so, where’s its shell?

Alexandrians lined the walls and shore of the city, cheering and waving and the trumpets responded with even more fervor. “She’s marched them all out today,” Apollodorus said. “Including herself.”

Tetisheri followed his eyes to the tiny platform above the mirror at the very top of the lighthouse. There stood a slender figure dressed in white and gold, the bulge of her belly prominent even from here. The Double Crown shone every bit as brightly as the Roman armor, and the crook and flail were crossed on her breast. — Death of an Eye, 2018
