I don’t think the Founding Fathers were unconscious of their own hypocrisy.

I don’t think the Founding Fathers were unconscious of their own hypocrisy. I think they wrote the Constitution in the spirit of “Don’t do as we do, do as we say” in the hope that one day we would. They knew — none better — that human beings are inherently flawed, which is why they created a nation of laws and not a nation of men. Because of their faith in us to do better than they did, We the People can guide our national direction with our vote.
I voted yesterday. How about you?
Chatter absentee ballot Jesse Wegman Let the People Pick the President vote vote by mail
Dropped ballot off at Clerk’s office in the official ballot box earlier this week.
Working on my ballot today. Will turn it in at a drop box next Saturday when the drop boxes open.
Waiting for my ballot to arrive. I’ll drop it in the lockbox at my town hall. I once heard a Black comic talk about the U.S. Constitution and the national anthem. He said the high “free” and the constitution were both aspirational rather than reflections of reality. Of course, he (Richard Pryor?) said it better, infinitely better, but I’ve got, and agree with, the gist.
We haven’t got our ballots yet. But will vote when they get here.
Voted absentee 9/28 & have checked it shows received.
We’ve received ours. It’ll take a while to complete them. We’re in Cook County, IL and have half a gazillion judges on the ballot and we’ve been trying to research them.
We are in Chicago, will research judges this weekend and fill out ballots. We plan to drop them off at a local drop box next week when those become available at the early voting places.
State of Colorado sent out the ballots tomorrow. I’ll be checking my box in a couple hours.
Waiting for our ballots to arrive. We plan to deal with it immediately.
Both John and I handed our sealed ballots to the County Clerk a week ago. It felt so good! I so hope we can drive up next summer.
