I traveled to Egypt in December 2019 to do research for the Eye of Isis novels, a series set in Alexandria in the time of Cleopatra.

From an exhibit in the superb Nubian Museum in Aswan. Schist palette used for grinding kohl. Eyeliner circa 3000 BC or thereabouts. (And evidently they had/have flounder in the Nile.)
