What a fun video! I was at a breakfast once in Williamsburg, VA, and women showed us how they were dressed each day. Fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
Me too! Amanda Quick (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) has written about how one of the reasons most women of that era didn’t learn how to swim was because with all that clothing – sometimes up to 15 pounds of underclothes – the woman wouldn’t have a prayer of being able to keep her head above the surface, much less swim. The common sense dress movement worked to lower that to seven pounds of undergarments, and was a great scandal.
