Wonderful musical! Thank you!
That was awesome Dana!!Thank you!
IKR?
Love it! Totally new to me. Thanks for the flight!
Entirely my pleasure! The song is based on real-life AA Captain Beverly Bass’ life.
Dana, thank you so much for posting this! Love the show; saw it three times on Broadway. This song, in particular, gives me chills every time I hear it. And if I may brag a bit, my 17-year-old grandson, who got his pilot’s license recently, will be heading for the University of North Dakota to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. Nothing in between him and the sky!
Tell him Alaska needs all the commercial pilots we can get!
Our family already has an Alaska connection. His aunt worked three summers as a seasonal ranger at Denali and then got her master’s from UAF; my husband and I have been to AK seven times, including flying our plane up there twice; and his parents have been there a couple of times as well. His elementary school had a terrific outdoor education program, starting with single overnights in cabins in kindergarten and culminating in a week of rough winter camping by 6th grade. He wants to get tailwheel and float plane certifications — I’d say he’s got a lot going for him Alaska-wise.
What a powerful song and performance–really captures that innate passion for flying! Can’t believe this play didn’t hit my radar screen before. Thanks so much for belatedly catching me up, Dana!
“Come From Away” is amazing, see it if you can, and that song–!!! Or just listen to the album. “Welcome to the Rock” is my second favorite.
