I remember the TV show. And when I was eight, the same year it debuted, my family drove Route 66 as far as Flagstaff and then down to Phoenix. We moved to Phoenix the following year.
So yeah, this has a lot of resonance for me.
It’s a great song, too.
Took this route on a Harley. 1968. Ended up in Pacific Beach. They had started the interstate highway by then, but there was original 66 most of the way. More stories than I can tell here, but it was still a slice of regional vistas framed by good and not so good human interactions.
Sounds like it wasn’t boring.
