Less than a month till the launch on January 25th of the fourth Eye of Isis novel, Abduction of a Slave! The drums of war are sounding again across the Middle Sea. Julius Caesar is determined to put down the last of the Pompeians (he wishes), who fled to Cyrenaica after Pompey’s defeat at Pelusium. At this auspicious moment Tetisheri and Uncle Neb decide to take their new merchant galley out for a spin, ostensibly looking for silphium, which popular herb has suddenly become conspicuous by its absence in the Emporium in Alexandria. Hearing of this peaceful pleasure cruise, Cleopatra of course tasks Tetisheri with a simple message to a friend currently resident at their destination. "A simple message." Sure… Above are images of a bookmark and postcard Head of Zeus have conjured up to tuck into the first hardcover editions at the launch at the Poisoned Pen Bookstore on Saturday, January 25th at 5pm. It’s a live and virtual event, so if you can’t attend in person you can watch on Facebook or YouTube. But wait, there’s more! Go here to see the stickers that will also be included in those first editions. And join the Danamaniacs to check out the contest they’re throwing to give away three prizes! There is a Wedjat Eye necklace, a golden scarab bracelet, and a replica of a Roman firesteel (with tinder, because why not). The contest began Sunday, December 22nd and will close at midnight PST on Saturday, January 11th. Have fun, and good luck! Death of an Eye introduces us to Tetisheri, lifelong friend of Cleopatra, the Lady of Two Lands and ruler of Egypt. The queen’s Eye is struck down in the streets of Alexandria and Cleopatra tasks her friend to find the murderer and bring them to justice. |
