From Chapter 3 of Alaska Traveler:
What is Winterfest? Ah, thereby hangs my tale. Make that tail. A foxtail, in fact. Hanging from a fox-fur G-string. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

I own this and loved it. It is, simply put, Alaskan in a can (as it were). Dana captures the essence of life there, with it’s quirks, dangers, unpredictability, occasional desperation, and most certainly, the existence within the bizarre, beautiful, flat-out crazy life that is the wondrous state that is Alaska. (What? Moose on Main street and it won’t leave? Ok, gimme a sec, I got a hot situation to attend to first.”) This is Stabenow as good as she gets, and that is first class! Enjoy!
