  1. I guess I shouldn’t still be amazed by the information you find and post on this web page. I’m from KY and have never heard about this before. The “blocker” on the network here at work won’t let me get to the site to read the entire story, but I’ll do that tonight from home.

  2. It is a great story. My dad is from KY and I have spent plenty of weekends there. His maternal grandfather was a mailman. He used a sort of modified covered wagon to keep the mail safe from the weather. At least these he had a cover of sorts over his head. These ladies must have been really strong of spirit.

  3. I have a postcard from the Monterey County (CA) library system of their first librarian delivering books by burro in 1916. I think it’s amazing how these librarians managed to get books and information to people, and that mission continues today.
